A stroll through the market in Veal Vaeng. This town, halfway between Pursat and the sea, is somewhat quirky and conveys a slight apocalyptic atmosphere. A visit to the market shows once again that the cold chain for food of all kinds in Cambodia is never interrupted—there simply isn't one. Instead, most traders are equipped with a fly swatter. This allows them to briefly chase away the flies so that customers can get an unobstructed view of the meat and fish. Despite the difficult living conditions, everyone we meet is interested, friendly, and in a very good mood.
