Who am I?
My name is Gerhard (Gerd) Henkes. I live in the beautiful Westerwald and work in Frankfurt. One day before the start of the tour I will celebrate my 50th birthday.

What am I going to do?
I will participate in a fundriding tour through Laos in February 2020. Fundriding means that I will ride on a big scooter about 1500km through Laos together with some other people. Similar to a “donation run” in local schools, fundriding is about helping others. This means that I am looking for sponsors who will pay an amount to the small charity for every kilometre I drive at the end of the tour. This is already possible from one cent, so that for example in this case at the end about 15 Euro donation comes out. Altogether I need an amount of >=1 Euro per kilometer. Alternatively, the donation of a fixed amount is also possible. The money is invested locally in charitable purposes/projects. On two days of the tour we will even work on one of the projects ourselves.

Before I forget: Of course, there is also a donation receipt for the tax return for every donor. It is still important to know that I pay my travel expenses, i.e. flight, accommodation, scooter rent, fuel, food etc., completely out of my own pocket; therefore, my vacation is not financed with the sponsoring.

Why am I doing this?
As already mentioned, I will be 50 years old on 21.02.2020 and I have to say that the area has grown very close to my heart after a few visits. For this reason I would like to do something extraordinary where others can also benefit. When I came across the “kleine Hilfsaktion e.V.” and Fundriding some time ago, I was totally fascinated and it was clear to me that I wanted to be there at some point. To help the people in Laos perfects the matter. Laos and the whole region have been badly shaken by history and have not really recovered yet. The simplest things like running water, medical care, etc. are missing. The Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. pursues different projects in the countries (closer information under www.kleinehilfsaktion.de) in order to improve the situation for humans there.
