Dear Donor,
My name is Marion Externbrink, and I live in the charming town of Hoffnungsthal (Rösrath) in the Bergisches Land region of Germany. My husband, Rolf, has been one of the German tour guides for Fundriding – this will be his ninth time! So, I thought it was finally time for me to become a Fundrider myself.
The last tour Rolf guided was two years ago, and our youngest daughter and I had the opportunity to meet the team in Battambang, where part of the emergency aid projects were being implemented. We were able to visit several projects, and it was deeply moving to see what the Fundriders had achieved with their donations that year. What I find so compelling about Fundriding is that the projects are managed by local aid organizations, with a strong focus on empowering people to help themselves.
This will be my third trip to Cambodia. It is a breathtakingly beautiful country, and the warmth and hospitality of its people touch every heart. However, the stark social inequalities are undeniable. In rural areas, in particular, you are constantly reminded that Cambodia is still a developing country. Healthcare, education, infrastructure, social security, and environmental awareness are still in their infancy – often barely existing at all. The living conditions many people face are heartbreaking.
I have great respect for this journey and the 1,500 kilometers ahead of me, but I am also looking forward to experiencing the country and its people.
Participants cover their own travel expenses.
But I need your support!
We will be riding approximately 1,500 km, and I am asking for 1 euro per kilometer. You can support me with just 1 cent per km (which adds up to 15 euros), or of course, more if you wish—either per kilometer or as a fixed donation. Every cent truly counts, as 100% of all donations go directly to where they are needed most.
I will keep you updated on how the donations are used, and I would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give.
