Characteristics

Hey there!
My name is Norbert Massing, I’m 62 years young – and definitely old enough to know that life’s too short to keep putting things off. That means I want to live fully in the here and now, doing whatever makes me happy. Add a healthy dose of adventure to the mix, and you’ll find me exploring the world, getting to know new cultures, and finding little ways to turn everyday life into something special.
Thanks to Covid, I rediscovered something I hadn’t done in nearly 40 years: motorcycling. Since then, I’ve done just three major tours – a ride to Liverpool to see the Stones live, a solo trip to the North Cape to clear my head, and a journey through China along the Tibetan border. But every single kilometer and every roadside encounter sparked a deeper longing for more. And while searching for a meaningful way to satisfy that urge for adventure, I stumbled across a charity tour in India organized by Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. last weekend.
It’s not just about having fun – it’s also about collecting donations, both monetary and in kind, to help those who need it most around the world. What really touched me was the down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach: no endless talk or planning, just action. It’s about getting that urgently needed wheelchair here or that sewing machine there. It’s about clean water, hygiene, education, and emergency aid in some of the poorest regions on earth.
Anyone who knows me knows this is right up my alley. It took me no time at all to decide that this would become my fourth big tour. We’ll see stunning places, sure – but we’ll also visit communities that will starkly show us just how fortunate we are and how much we have to give.
The “tour project” we’re supporting is a training program for women living in the slums of Hyderabad. It gives them the opportunity to become seamstresses – and if they pass their final exam, they receive a sewing machine to start their own business. One sewing machine – changing a whole life!
To make this a reality for as many women as possible, I need a lot of sewing machines. But please – don’t send me your old treasures! I only have 23 kg of luggage allowance 😄. What I really need are supporters willing to help me raise funds so we can buy sewing machines locally – where we’ll get much more bang for our buck anyway. Plus, the training program itself also needs funding.
Starting November 8, 2025, the organization will host its 10th charity “Fundriding” tour through India. We’ll ride around 1,500 km from Kerala to Goa – and then head to Hyderabad. For every kilometer I ride, I’m looking for sponsors who like the idea and are willing to donate 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, or more per kilometer. That adds up to 15 €, 30 €, 75 €, or more. Honestly, I don’t know anyone who couldn’t spare a cent. And since you’ll receive a donation receipt, even the new Finance Minister will chip in through your tax return. So – will you join in?
I would love nothing more than to roll into Hyderabad with a truck full of sewing machines. And if the “per-kilometer” model doesn’t feel right for you, you’re more than welcome to make a one-time donation instead. Every contribution – big or small – helps. I’ll round up the total amount raised at the end of the tour, just for good measure. And of course, I’ll be covering all of my own travel costs.
If you like what this is all about, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support. You can also help by spreading the word – share the link to this campaign with your friends, your network, or anyone who might be interested. The more people join in, the more we can achieve together.
And of course, we’ll keep you posted during the trip – with stories, photos, and videos, if you’d like.
Much love,
Norbert
