Our route, which has been tried several times, leads around 1,300 kilometers through Cambodia and includes everything the country has to offer: vast landscapes with extensive rice fields, Buddhist temples and monasteries, swimming villages, the Cardamom Mountains, the jungle, the Bokor National Park, the sea , A dream island to relax, the wilderness capital of Phnom Penh, a boat trip over the Tonle Sap and, of course, Siem Reap, the tourist center at the temple complexes of Angkor Wat. In addition to the dense and diverse impressions of the country, we have emotional encounters with friends and partners who implement the projects of the Kleine Hilfsaktion on the ground, with people in need, who help us quickly and unbureaucratically and with pupils who we want to support Future of Cambodia.

This trip is far away from the luggage-box tourism, can’t be booked anywhere else and probably “the tour of your life”.

Departure from Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Frankfurt or Munich Overnight Stay: on the plane :-)

Arrival in Bangkok, “Buddy Boutique Inn” 62 Chakrapong Road, Taladyod, Pranakorn Bangkok, 10200, Thailand. Acclimatization, BKK explore, arriving. I would suggest that we have dinner together somewhere, so I can explain everything and inform you. Afterwards, at least from experience so far, the Khau San Road will suck us in – whoever likes to party will never know a better place :-)

1. Overnight Stay: Bangkok

At 5:00 in the morning, we set off. We will travel in 2 minibuses for about 4 hours until we reach the border to Poipet; We will grab our luggage and cross the Cambodian border by foot, together with luggage and our wheelchair. From there we will travel to Battambang on 6 Toyota Camry in 2.5 hours, according to course. We will briefly leave our luggage here and directly (!) make our way to Banan in taxis, which is 17 km further. There we will hand over the vehicles, introduce ourselves to the Cambodian road traffic, do driving exercises, and become familiar with the technique. During the daytime we will be under time pressure, as it must be ensured that we start the return at 16:15 the latest, so that we don’t have to travel (!) in the dark. Arrival in Battambang and check in at the hotel after 5 p.m. Voluntary: dinner 8 p.m., about 500 m away. Alternatively everyone can eat in the hotel or do something else. Today we will only drive around 30 km on the scooters – beautiful kilometres however.

2. Overnight Stay: Battambang

Battambang Banan, visiting the headquarters of the Kleine Hilfsaktion in Banan, personal transfer of the brought wheelchair to a disabled person, who otherwise would have little chance of surviving.  Approximately 50 – 150 km. Refreshen in the hotel in Battambang. At around 6 p.m. we will be picked up by 3 TukTuks and driven back out to Banan. In the evening: Good-bye party in Banan!

3. Overnight Stay: Battambang

In the morning we leave for the village of Chy Hong II and visit a cave temple which is located in the midst of a mined mountain. No tourist would ever come this far. Lunch in the only organic food restaurant, back to the hotel after Battambang, check out and off to the 1st stage: from Battambang to Pursat in Central Cambodia. Approx. 110 km

4. Overnight Stay: Pursat

Pursat, a visit to real floating villages (not a tourist village). In the afternoon we will visit our school in Kandieng and two of our ongoing projects (Chorn-familly and ‘old lady’, our oldest project, as long as she is not in hospital)

5. Overnight Stay: Pursat

Pursat to Veal Veng into the Kardamom mountains. Very tiring, dusty and interesting. The place exudes an “end of the world” – mood – not negative, but intense. Approximately 120 Km

6. Overnight Stay: Veal Veng

Veal Veng to O´Soum, we will remain in the Kardamom Mountains. This route is only about 70 km long. Nature is so breathtaking that we will probably lose a lot of time spent for photographing and filming. We also want to give participants the option to take advantage of the free afternoon. The surroundings of O’Soum are very nice and you can clearly see how far we have distanced from everything that normally surrounds us – an interesting experience. Approximately 70 Km

7. Overnight Stay: O´Soum

O´Soum to Koh Kong. We should set off early, because this stage is again quite sporty. We can never predict whether someone has a breakdown or even an accident and need to plan, so that we have enough time for contingencies further on. The last 20 km are covered with concrete slabs. A visual highlight of the tour.

In the evening we will stay at a hotel in Koh Kong City and will be sure to sit on the pier until late in the evening, enjoying an extended dinner and just chilling. After crossing the Kardamom Mountains with a scooter, it will definitely be an earned treat. Approximately 100 Km

8. Overnight Stay: Koh Kong City

Option a) At 8 o’clock we have to be on the boat, off to a dream island. We will not give away the name yet. Infront of Koh Kong there are several islands, but this is an absolute highlight in this form and certainly a special experience for all. There are only 15 cottages and they are for us. We arrive at around 11 a.m and would like to stay the for the following day.

Option b) In November, the small resort on the island wasn’t opened again. At this point in time I am trying everything to receive information on this. Should it further not be possible to visit this island, we will move to option B, the same as in December 2016. It was wonderful as well. We will set out early in the morning, in that case. We will have to drive 200 km. We will drive south to Sihanoukville. There, we will take a boat and travel to the island, you will also find in the video of the last tour. There are two overnight staying options. Watch the video of “Day 10?. Tree hut (will be taken be me) or rather a bungalow. There are only 5 bungalows. You can sleep in- and outside, which means two people can share a bungalow. As I have to book beforehand, please tell me how you are planning your stay. Such places, are rare on earth nowadays and usually they don’t stay  secret for very long. That is why we want to give everyone the chance, to enjoy this situation for 2 nights. Now the task is to “hit the brakes”, calm down and just chill.

9. Overnight Stay: Island

Relax, enjoy. Read a book, swim, sleep, just take some time for yourself. A whole day in complete peace and quiet and a fantastic atmosphere, clear waters and beautiful beach. No phone reception and electricity only available from 18-22 pm.

10. Overnight Stay: Island

Koh Kong – Kep. Aside from new impressions, we will also collect money and another day in paradise, will not earn us anymore sponsored money. In the morning we will leave the island, with a specially hired boat because we still have a sporting 267 beautiful for driving kilometers to go and the regular boat leaves in the afternoon. The road from Sihanoukville to Kep, on the south coast of Cambodia is not very busy and meanders through a beautiful landscape to the region of Kampot. Approximately 170 km, should we arrive from Sihanoukville (Option B) or 270 km, should we arrive from Koh Kong (Option A).

11. Overnight Stay: Kep, a Resort in the Outback

We will stay in the region of Kampot, for two nights. We rented a beautiful resort, a great contrast to the sparse hut on the island. The countryside of Kep is the greenest region of Cambodia, its name is Kampot. You will find the world famous and supposedly best pepper in the world here; the so-called “Kampot Pepper”, which is grown in vast plantations. Each participant will surely take a larger stock of it home :-) We will by travelling through the surroundings all day, collecting kilometres, visiting a waterfall and again drive along the beautiful coastal road, which is lined with countless dilapidated mansions from colonial times. Approximately 70 Km. Today, everyone can do what they want.

12. Overnight Stay: Kep, a Resort in the Outback

Kep to Phnom Penh. We will not use one of the two leading national roads to Phnom Penh, but a way that lies straight inbetween. This road is paved to 90% and leads us through a beautiful natural area one last time. After approximately 170 Km, before the capital traffic madness, we will terminate the scooter tour. We will meet up at a  place just outside Phnom Penh’s and deliver the scooters. From here they are transported back to Battambang. We will transfer to our service-van. The risk that we lose a person from the group in this traffic jungle is too big and doesn’t make sense. In the evening we will celebrate the farewell, perhaps on our roof terrace of our hotel, and celebrate the combined total of hopefully at least € 14.000,- in any case we can and will, together with the remaining sum of the last tour, to equip as many schools as possible with a WASH and save the lives of several children through it.

13. Overnight Stay: Phnom Penh

We will board an express boat. It will travel from Phnom Penh up north, back to Siam Reap, in about 5.5 hours. We will start on the great Mekong River, then turn to the smaller Tonle Sap River. In the end we cross the vast Tonle Sap Lake and arrive in Siam Reap. For the rest of the day/evening we will relax and keep Siam Reap busy.

14. Overnight Stay: Siam Reap

For those who want to see the temples of Anchor Watt, it’s time again to get up early, because the sunrise on the Temple Mount does not wait for long sleepers :-); Departure to the Temples: 4:45 a.m! However intensely you would like to explore the temples of Anchor Watt, is up to you. I will supervise the pool in the meantime :-)The return flight or further travel happen from Siam Reap. For whoever then meets with friends or family for a secondary holiday, it is hard to imagine a better location. Otherwise safe journey home, be strong in Germany, when you experience the culture shock, which you will definitely :-)
