The field of activity of Kleinen Hilfsaktion e.V.

The country offers impressive images of cultural richness and breathtaking landscapes. Dreamy temple complexes of all places, bustling markets where you can buy just about anything, Battambang (the pearl of the north in French colonial style), endless rice fields and primeval forests in 1,000 different shades of green, the impressive Cardamom Mountains, the sea at the Thai Gulf with its offshore small dream islands, the vibrant metropolis of Phnom Penh and of course Angkor Wat (see above). The Fundriding tour leaves none of this out and offers the unique opportunity to really get to know the whole country.

Ultimately, it is the people who make Cambodia special. The openness and warmth with which they meet us, the friendliness and hospitality that we receive – all this seems almost strange to us Central Europeans. Over the years, we have met many people – and quite a few have become real friends. Friends who are committed to supporting the work of Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V..

The next Fundriding scooter tour will take place in Cambodia in 2024.

The Route

In the first week of the tour we do not work directly on our projects, we first arrive, process our trip and get to know each other as a group. The impressions right after landing are varied, interesting and relaxing. Deceleration is the order of the day. After that, many days of relaxation in beautiful places and great, interesting and adventurous tours follow. The 110cc large wheel scooter with semi-automatic is the best choice here.

After crossing the Kardamon Mountains, the second week begins. We give the fundriders the unique opportunity to do the job as development workers instead of Nadine and Roland (Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V.). Of course we will take you by the hand. But it is an invaluable and important experience. Every fundrider can choose one project in Pursat-Central Cambodia and one in Banan-Northern Cambodia.

In addition, wheelchairs are delivered to waiting disabled people in Banan. This emergency project is also an invaluable experience for the Fundrider and an unspeakable gift .

Saturday 02. December 2023: Phnom Penh

Today is arrival day. Everyone arrives in the capital of Cambodia with different flight connections throughout the day. We will book a good hotel right at the mouth of the Tonle Sap and the huge Mekong River. The view in the evening from the roof terrace is breathtaking.

When you land in Phnom Penh, just tell the cab driver the hotel and he will deliver you there without much trouble. In the evening everyone should be there and we start our “first” fundriding tour with a welcome dinner. Here we have the opportunity to exchange all information about the next days and officially start the tour J

1st overnight stay: Phnom Penh

Sunday, December 03, 2023: Phnom Penh / Kampot

We are in the capital of Cambodia. Breathtaking. It has its own history and places, like the Killing Fields, have much to tell. Unfortunately, however, we can’t stay. We check out at 12pm and take the tour’s own 25-seater bus about 160 km to Kampot. Here we can come down. We rent a great resort right on the river. Here we can hand over the scooters in peace and quiet. Far away from any big city traffic chaos, everyone can get to know the vehicle, the driving and the new customs in traffic in peace. We make a small training, if it seems desired and necessary. In the evening we will end the eventful day with a BBQ at our resort and sleep differently, in a cozy little bamboo hut in a very special place on earth.

2nd overnight stay: Kampot

Monday, 04 December 2023: Kampot

Today everyone explores the area according to his feeling. Of course we offer a tour to Kep and/or to the crab market, we want to go there ourselves ). Also to the pepper mountains of Kampot is a must, finally the allegedly “best pepper in the world”, the Kampot pepper comes from here. We advise everyone to stow at least 1 kg in the luggage, it is addictive . It is important that everyone drives many kilometers, everyone should take advantage of this rare opportunity, and move in this beautiful area. In addition, we are on the road for it, we collect kilometers and thus donations.

Tuesday, 05 December 2023: Kampot

Our last day in the Kampot region. It’s time for a first longer tour. We offer to drive to a national park, Bokor Mountain Link https://bokor-mountain-cambodia.com . It is a mountain that we absolutely have to drive on. Beautiful scenery and a clean and good road winding its way up. The climb takes about 45 minutes. At the top, we have a little lunch break in the form of a picnic, right next to the old Sihanouks Casino. And then, down we go. Wonderful!!!

A great experience, a great tour, we are really looking forward to it. In the evening after returning, everyone should enjoy Kampot individually or in a group. A dream to sit there on the river. Super cozy and fancy restaurants and bars right on the river are waiting for us here.

4th overnight stay: Kampot

Wednesday 06. December 2023: from Kampot to Sihanoukville Port

Today we start earlier. We have about 160 km ahead of us and need to get on the boat as early as possible. Breakfast, check out and off we go. Everything will be packed so that everyone with smaller luggage can get on the boat in the afternoon. We will discuss the specifics of this stage the night before.

From here is about 160 kilometers and we should be at the boat as early as possible. The small simple harbor where we start is already worth the trip. The scooters will stop at a restaurant that, standing on stilts in the water, could not be simpler. Buy beer and get on the boat, the crossing takes, depending on wind/weather, about 2.5h. Upon arrival on this island, almost everyone gets the feeling of being far away from everything, somewhere in paradise. Here we want to stay for one day.

5th night: Koh Rong Saloem

Thursday 07 December 2023: Koh Rong Saloem

Even though we are traveling with a group, there is no group excursion or compulsion here either. It is the ideal place to spend a day completely with yourself, if you want to. We will arrange the type of accommodation individually.

We rent the whole resort there. There are tippi tents with a big comfortable double bed and a breathtaking view directly on the beach to the beautiful sea. There are wooden bungalows with and without toilet, everything is easily accessible, two very special and dreamlike nights are waiting for us. The restaurant has in our opinion the best food on the tour and the situation there is just incredible.

6th overnight stay: Koh Rong Saloem

Friday, 08. December 2023: from Sihanoukville to Koh Kong

After breakfast we (unfortunately) board the boat again. It brings us back to the mainland. There the service van is waiting with the rest of our luggage and of course our scooters. Now we saddle up and head north to Rihtung, always along the sea. Our destination is Koh Kong, right at the Thai border.

The road is good and the traffic very manageable. We can let it run and should create the greater distance loosely in the light.

Arrived in Koh Kong we go again to a real hotel. Next door can bring times his laundry in the Loudry (laundry) and / or enjoy a massage. In the evening everyone can enjoy his dinner individually at the water.

7th overnight stay: Koh Kong

Saturday, 09 December 2023: from Koh Kong to O’Soum

Today we are going directly to the Kardamon Mountains. We should start early, because this stage is quite sporty again. It is Nadine’s favorite stage. We can never foresee if someone will have a breakdown or even a fall and we have to plan so that we still have time for contingencies towards the back.

The nature is so breathtaking that we will probably lose a lot of time for photographing and filming. We also want to give participants the option to have the afternoon at leisure at the arrival point. The surroundings of O’Soum are very beautiful and you can clearly see how far away we are from everything – an interesting and very intense experience. WiFi is very limited for today and tomorrow. If it is important for you, however, an appropriate sim card can help, but more about that later. Maybe you will try it without … .

This stage will not exist in the future 2019 construction of a road has begun, the rainforest is already gone for the most part, enjoy it, it never comes back.

8. overnight: O’Soum in the Cardamon Mountains

Sunday, December 10, 2023: from O’Soum to Pursat

The same is true for today’s stage. Today we drive about one third through the Cardamon Mountains, partly with bad roads, but manageable. The rest we will drive on paved roads to Pursat in central Cambodia. On the way we show and explain one of the 76 health centers that Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. is equipping with water, sanitation and hygiene. We also travel for these retrofits. Each center that we retrofit helps about 2,500 patients per year. It is great that we help here together.

When we arrive in Pursat, we stop at a very nice hotel right on the river. The rest of the evening everyone can enjoy the amenities of the outdoor pool or a massage.

This is where the Small Relief Action originated and where we are working on some large and small projects.

9. overnight stay: Pursat

Monday, December 11, 2023: Pursat

Each fundrider could already choose a family/person before the tour, which is his/her own project in the course of our emergency aid. For this purpose we use this day. We visit the families and work out a concept together with you, which we mostly implement directly, and financed from the kilometer donations. It will be super interesting.

In the afternoon there is another highlight. We have been successfully running a school called “Kandieng Sustainable School” for many years. We will celebrate the long awaited school party with the 269 children of our KSS. End will be around 7 pm. Return to the hotel by scooters. The evening is of course free for everyone.

10. overnight stay: Pursat

Tuesday, December 12, 2023: from Pursat to Banan in Northern Cambodia.

We saddle our vehicles again. We continue to Banan. Banan is located about 20 km west of Battambang, a very beautiful area. Here the Kleine Hilfsaktion e.V. has been working together with Mr. Bong (Khmeer) and David Emery (USA) for about 15 years. David lives here. They together are Bareebo. We are looking forward to working with you. We are staying at a resort, with a pool and right next to Banan Temple Mountain. An idyllic and rural area. A great atmosphere. We will end the day with a dinner together.

Wednesday, December 13, 2023: Banan

Today is one of the two days when the fundrider becomes a development worker himself. Everyone has brought a wheelchair. We had sent these out to Banan right at the beginning of the tour in Phnom Penh. Each wheelchair is pre-disposed and gives a person back his mobility.

In addition, each fundrider has also been able to choose his or her own emergency aid project for Banan. We visit the families and work out a concept together with you, which we mostly implement directly and financed from the kilometer donations. It will be super interesting and a tough day.

The evening belongs to you again. Many drive after work to Battambang, 20 km away. Here you could stay longer, a beautiful city on the banks of an equally beautiful river.

12. overnight stay: Banan

Thursday, December 14, 2023: Banan

In the morning joint trip to our village Chy Hong II and visit a cave temple located in the middle of a mined mountain. No tourist would venture here. Lunch at Bong’s restaurant in Banan (definitely the only one with organic food – Bio).

Also in the afternoon we will give you as good an insight as possible into our work on the ground. We will visit some emergency projects, one or two rebuilt schools and of course a PPG project.

What this all means, we will explain to you on site. Alternatively, take a look at our website www.kleineHilfsaktion.de . On this day, we are way out in the countryside. Some of the personal emergency projects or even wheelchair handovers will take place here and today.

The evening is free again.

13. overnight stay: Banan

Friday, December 15, 2023: from Battambang to Siem Reap by boat.

Unfortunately, the trip after breakfast to Battambang is the last small tour. We drop off the scooters. We rent a private boat that takes our group to Siam Reap. An unimaginably beautiful and relaxing tour lies ahead of us. About 6.5 h the boat meanders over the Sangker River, then onto Tonle Sap Lake and finally through a huge mangrove area to Siam Reap.

Siem Reap is world famous. Before Corona, about 2 million visitors came every year. The main attraction is certainly the temple complexes. For those who want to see the temples of Angkor Wat, it is time to get up early tomorrow morning, because the sunrise on the temple mountain does not wait for late sleepers.
